Gone Fishin’
Last Friday my husband and I took a vacation day from work to go fishing with Leon (my father-in-law). He has had great success fishing and hunting his whole life. I will never be able to say this about myself. I am just too tender hearted to hunt and can barely handle fishing. Leon has been trying to help me catch a fish for about 16 years now and I am just terrible at it.
Just to help paint a picture of this: I once caught a fish that was small enough to be bait and got so excited over it that my mother-in-law nearly toppled into the lake trying to help me. Another time Leon took me out night fishing on a pontoon for my birthday. I managed to hook an alligator gar, freaked out, then the line broke.
That’s it. In 16 years that is ALL I have caught….until last Friday. I actualy caught 3 fish bringing my lifetime total to 5.
However, this is me, and in true Danielle fashion, I somehow managed to cast my line over a tree branch then into the water making my first catch of the day pretty memorable.

Haha. Only I could do something like that!
My 2nd fish of the day involved my line crossing my husband’s line and my 3rd fish was a little more standard except for the fact that I screamed at the top of my lungs because I got too excited. I’ve been told that alone makes me terrible at fishing because I scare the fish away, haha.
Luckily I didn’t scare my father-in-law or husband away because I still haven’t graudated to being able to hold a fish or take it off my own line. Maybe one day but for now it is what it is.
Grand totals for the day: Father-in-law: 23, Husband: 8, Me: 2 plus a tree-fish, the kiddo: a few branches (I guess she takes after me!).
So, how about you? Do you have a good fishing story to share? I’d love to hear it! Please comment below or send me a Facebook message.
